MIDI EDITOR

What's new in version 1.2 ?

In this new version 1.2, most of the bugs of version 1.1 have been fixed, and new functionalities have been added. Note that settings created with versions 1.0 and 1.1 are compatible with this version (you can even jump directly from 1.0 to 1.2). For registered users (once again, we thank them all), the system code remains unchanged.

Functionalities

- New 'Tip Of The day' window at application launch (language changes with the help file language).
- New 'Getting started' window at first application launch (actually, when no 'Bank Type' has been created yet...).
- Small help windows indicating which function keys can be used in the user forms creation part, and in the sounds list part.
- MIDI Communication via DLL, more efficient and reliable.
- New 'MIDI trace' window that shows the contents of MIDI messages.

Bank Types setttings

Bugs
- Bug concerning devices which don't use the ASCII standard for sounds names fixed (D50 ...).

Evolutions
- User windows can now be restored by the 'Init from' feature.
- Sounds numbers can be replaced by notes codes (A0, A#0 ...).
- A particular MIDI OUT port can now be assigned to a Bank type.

Importation Formats

Evolutions
- The determination engine becomes more clever. The right format is found in more cases.
- The two default importation formats (Raw SysEx file and Raw MIDIFILE) have also evoluted.

Edition and use of user forms

Bugs
- Modification of the value of a 'calculated parameter' representing only a few bits of an offset would cause the other bits of this particular offset to be set to zero. This has been fixed.
- Suppression of a 'calculated parameter' : The 'Parameter' properties of user 'controls' linked to a deleted 'calculated parameter' are automaticaly set to '*** None ***'.
- When the order of 'calculated parameter' changes, user 'controls' now keep the link with the parameter they've been associated with.
- Behaviour of the 'Envelopes' control - which was far from perfect - fixed.
- Bug during the duplication of 'Combo box' controls fixed.

Evolutions
- Change of look for the 'mixer' control (which desperately needed it).
- A bitmap can now be included in 'Button' controls, to indicate their function.
- New 'To Window button' control : allows you to reach directly a particular user window.
- New 'Increment Combo Box' control : This control allows you to increase the value of each offset linked to the controls of the current window. Very usefull for devices in which several memory parameters are repetitive (for instance: parameters concerning oscillator 1, then, same parameter for oscillator 2 ...). See the online help for further information.
- New 'Container' control : This control allows you to gather controls together. As above, see the online help for further information.
- New 'Numeric label' control : This very simple control can be used to display the numeric value of a memory offset or a 'calculated parameter'.
- New 'MIDI button' control: You can assign a MIDI message to a button. This control is usefull for instance to change the synth's mode (patch, performance ...).

Other modifications et corrections

- Windows NT compatibility.
- Last 'Bank Type' used is now saved as the default one.
- Correction of minor bugs concerning the Multi-Copy feature.
- ...
